Mahindra Racing races ahead !
25th March 2012 was a dream start for Mahindra Racing. Mahindra racing team won their first ever 125GP race. Only this time they didnt just win it they gunned it with a 10 second lead at one point in the race. So convincing was the victory that it has upped the hopes of a million(?) Motorsport fans in India.
While the Italian rider Moretti directed his bike to the chequered flag to seal the win his teammate Sarath Kumar (Indias first export to the world of GP racing) was forced to retire due to technical problems.
"A victory in our debut race is a shot in the arm. we are now in the right frame of mind to vie for the championship title."
Will this prove to be a shot in the arm for racing awareness and motorsports in India too ? Too many races to go but all we know is as Indians we feel proud as India's very own Mahindra Racing is ruling for the time being. You see, the fact of the matter is that untill recently mostly we couldnt imagine speaking of motorsports or racing with any sort of pride in India. How could we? How could anyone? Motosports is still a child in a man's body in the country of Arjuna and Ekalavya. It functions like an underground nuclear activity, here. Waiting for its time. Waiting to explode. Something's gotta give- something's gotta change. Could Mahindra racing be that change ?
